Adrian trained in horticulture and lectured in the subject at East Surrey College before moving up to Scotland. He marries a wealth of garden history with practical horticultural knowledge, and leads on our gardening workshops and garden planning advice.
Adrian has a particular passion for - and extensive knowledge of - rose cultivation. He also specialises in shade-loving plants.
Adrian is a national Judge for Keep Scotland Beautiful.
David has lived at Helensbank since 2000, and has over the years, in partnership with Adrian, restored the house's 18th century walled garden.
With passions for plants, music and cooking, David leads on our planting schemes, concerts and other event planning. He is also the "holder" of our Plant Heritage National Collection of Portland Roses.
David is a Trustee and Board Secretary of Scotland's Gardens Scheme, and is a Trustee of Perennial - the UK's benevolent fund for gardeners and their families. He is also a member of the garden committee of York Gate Garden, an historically important arts and crafts garden outside Leeds.
Helensbank opens under Scotland's Gardens Scheme from June to September by prior appointment.
